Central Government of India's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Should Stop the Pipeline Projects in Tamilnadu
The corporation is planning to lay a 1,167 km pipeline to reach LNG imported at Ennore to Nagapattinam, Tuticorin, Madurai and Bengaluru. This is designed to transport 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day along this route. Although this project is dangerously close to becoming a reality, many residents are unaware of the plan's existence. Many towns and cities will be impacted including Chennai, Madurai, Pondicherry, Trichy, Nagappatinam, Tuticorin and Ramanathapuram.
This increase in size and pressure along with the expansion of compressor and metering stations may put our environment at risk as well as the health and safety of our citizens. The most alarming part is the explosion accidents. The gas in the pipelines will come from fracking. Large amounts of methane are released during the processing, storage and distribution of natural gas. Methane is a greenhouse gas far more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. Enviornmentalists and citizens are concerned that this investment in gas infrastructure will ultimately subvert the needed expansion of the green energy economy. This project would run through many residential neighborhoods causing safety, health, water contamination, and property rights problems.
We're worried that it could leak and pollute our river, poison our people. We wanted people to hear us so we had to show them and bring the Pipeline issue to light to protect Mother Land. We saw thousands of faces who would be impacted by the construction of this pipeline.
The fight against the Pipeline can only be successful if we have your voice. Please sign and Let them know that we do not need oil to live, but we do need water, and water is a human right and not a privilege.
Tamils, We believe that the pipeline has great potential to leak into the land, River and cause harm to the great people of this nation whose water and livelihood depends on the land and river. We're willing to go to any extent to make sure that our voices are heard in opposition to the pipeline. Sign to stand with us and demand a stop to the Pipeline Project In Tamilnadu. A lot of lives who will be effected if this pipeline were to be installed.
This is an unwanted and unwarranted project. We demand that our elected representatives and our activists to step up for us and put people before profit and cancel this proposed project.
